Both Allan and Mandy were involved in different ways in the early days of South Square, at which they last showed their work together in 2002. Mandy and Allan return with work reflecting the years in between spent briefly in America, then Cornwall and more recently in North Wales.

Both Allan and Mandy were involved in different ways in the early days of South Square, at which they last showed their work together in 2002. Mandy and Allan return with work reflecting the years in between spent briefly in America, then Cornwall and more recently in North Wales.
Mandy who works mainly abstract in acrylics/mixed-media, and Allan who draws/paints figuratively with emulsion and pastel, both share a passion for the magical and the ethereal; the sea and water; light and energy and their firm experience and belief that through creative recovery: Art Saves Lives!
Throughout their journey (including their Face-book page: The Undertow), and at their various exhibitions they have always paid homage to the late and great poet/singer songwriter and artist Leonard Cohen, who loans the titles to much of their work, and very aptly provided the following words in his song “Came so far for beauty” which summed up their emotions regarding this exhibition:
“I came so far for beauty,
I left so much behind
My patience and my family
My masterpiece unsigned”
