This year’s annual Camberwell Arts Festival celebrates SE5’s transformation through an innovative events programme which includes a series of eye-catching shopfront artworks, an arts market, open studios, exhibitions and a range of diverse performances including the World’s first ever Organoke.

This year’s annual Camberwell Arts Festival, runs between 11-19th June 2016, will celebrate SE5’s transformation through an innovative events programme which includes a series of eye-catching artworks on Camberwell’s high streets, an arts market, open studios, exhibitions and a range of diverse performances including the World’s first ever Organoke.
              
FESTIVAL PREMIERE, AND  A WORLD FIRST: ORGANOKE!
Saturday evening sees the opening night gala, and a world first, of ORGANOKE! at St Giles’ Church. Sing along to favorite Karaoke "choons" en masse with a 300-strong congregation the mighty church organ, a live band and the one and only Ida Barr (inner city pensioner and rap star)!  (£7 on the door)

MADE IN CAMBERWELL
To kick off Camberwell Arts Festival 2016, the summer edition of the arts market full of locally produced handmade art and design will take place on Saturday, 11th June in Datchelor Place. Savvy shoppers will be able to purchase unique gifts, homewares and jewellery sold directly by the artists and makers. Expect a fun, bustling atmosphere with music and entertainment from Pangea Steel Band. (free)

CAMBERWELL OPEN
Now in its second year, this art exhibition aims to present a snapshot of creative practice from artists based in, or associated with Camberwell. The ‘hang the lot’ will mix hobbyists with professional artists at Camberwell Leisure Centre, Artichoke Place, SE5, running throughout the Festival. (free)

CAMBERWELL ARTS OPEN STUDIO
From the 17th-19th June, rounding off the festival, will be the fourth collaborative Camberwell Arts OPEN STUDIO event, with up to 100 artists, makers and creators throwing open their doors to art-lovers and collectors.  Representing the spectrum of creative arts: ceramics, craft, illustration, jewellery, silversmithing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and textiles, SE5 has it all! HIGH STREET PUBLIC ART & EVENTS
In harmony with this year’s theme, Metamorphosis, 10 local artists will re-design 10 SHOPFRONTS as part of Southwark Council’s Highstreet Challenge initiative. Discover new beer taps adorning the widows of the Stormbird pub; Victorian cyclists spilling out of Cycle PS; try a new hairstyle at Hair Couture; explore the meaning of Metamorphosis at Marina House; confront your fears outside Edwardes bike shop; be part of the Camberwell memory exchange at Hunters; Admire the neon florals at Cowling & Wilcox; enter the Camberwell Safari at Fonehouse; get mixed up at Lumberjack and relax by the waterfall of Silverlake. Public events will include: Camberwell Choir, Pangea and Owl Parliament Choir will be performing at two events in Datchelor Place; A tinfoil phonograph workshop will be hosted by the Flying Dutchman, and an LED glove puppet workshop will take place at Art Deli. (free)

FRINGE PROGRAMME from comedy at the Joiners Arms, performance at Blue Elephant Theatre and St Giles, music at Grove Chapel and Communion bar, workshops at Flux Jewellery School, Cowling & Wilcox, Open Studios and exhibits at SLAM, Sunshine Arts, Hill Bakery, Camberwell library and guided walks.
