Master the basics in calligraphy and drawn lettering techniques

About

In this session, you will be introduced to traditional tools, techniques, and materials, and observe a demonstration from a master calligrapher.

Inspired by the National Gallery Collection you will design and produce your own decorated Lombardic letter on paper, and also create your own illuminated letter based on the work of a 15th-century scribe in the late Gothic style.

You will have the opportunity to use Dutch gold metal leaf, gouache and ink. No experience required and all materials provided.

Run in partnership with City Lit

This workshop is part of our Friday Late programme REVIVAL: The art in craft
