Millington | Marriott is an artist led initiative based in Peckham, London. . Millington | Marriott this summer will be running an off-site project in Stratford, London from the 27th July 2012. We have acquired a warehouse space, ‘E2012' that is situated on the doorstep of the Olympic Stadium (see map below). As part of the project we will be transforming the warehouse into three distinct sections. The ground floor of the warehouse will host a fine art exhibition compromising of selected cutting edge London based Galleries that will select and exhibit one work from one artist. The mezzanine level will function as a bar and events area. The bar and all the furniture will be bespoke pieces from artists, designers, and architects from the UK and international institutes such as the Designskolen Kolding, Denmark. The reception room will be transformed into an alternative Olympic shop that will contain custom designed souvenirs from artists across London, limited edition prints, catalogues from the participating galleries, artist books, and limited edition art works to coincide with the exhibition. We are inviting young illustrators to submit original designs that could be transferred to items such as postcards, t-shirts, flags, and tote bags. The illustrations should be directed towards any of the following; the competing nations in the Olympic games; the London Olympics 2012 itself; or London. The selected works will be printed at our expense and displayed for sale. (Please remember all Olympic logos are protected by copyright and cannot be used) Selected illustrators will receive a cut of the sales on top of the huge publicity received from being involved with an event of this kind. Additionally to aid the promotion of the illustrators their name will be printed on the merchandise and we will advertise the products on our website. Due to the nature of this event, its location and timing, this is a perfect opportunity for young illustrators to get their work seen and establish themselves in the illustration world.
