Bummock: Waddington Art Walk
27 Jul 2019
Redwood Community Centre
Lincoln, United Kingdom
Three temporary public artworks in Waddington inspired by the Tennyson Research Centre, Lincoln.
Artists Andrew Bracey, Danica Maier and Sarah Bennett are currently undertaking a 3 year residency at the Tennyson Research Centre in Lincoln. Bummock: Tennyson in Waddington presents early outcomes from this residency. Housed within the Tennyson Research Centre is a wealth of information and material about Alfred Tennyson, alongside intriguing content concerning his wider family. These less well-known figures have been the motivating focus for new artworks by all three artists.
The residency forms part of the long-term research project 'Bummock: New Artistic Responses to Unseen Parts of the Archive'. The Bummock is the large part of an iceberg hidden beneath the surface of the sea. The project focuses on the unseen or lesser known parts of the archive (i.e. the ‘bummock’) as catalysts for the creation of new artworks.
The artworks are located at St Michael's church, High Street Waddington / Junction of Hill Top and Station Road, and Sidney Hall Memorial Field (off Station Road) Waddington.
