AboutOver the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, LAVA Collective are taking over two rooms in The Rag Factory, which is situated just off Brick lane on Heneage Street.
Room 1: Bruno 9li & Talita Hoffmann
9li, (pronounced âNovelli') has emerged in recent years as one of Brazil's brightest talents. His work combines an edgy metropolitan sensibility with the mysticism and wonderment that he finds in the natural world. A native of Sao Paulo, 9li has been gaining admirers across Europe and America. In the last 3 years he has had solo shows in Copenhagen, Milan, Barcelona and San Jose.
9li is coming to London to create a large-scale mural. This will form the centrepiece of the show, which will also feature his new series of original works on paper. A ltd. edition Bruno 9li t shirt is being produced to accompany the event; this will be available for purchase at the show, or at lavacollective.com.
Talita Hoffmann will be travelling to London with 9li to preside over her first UK show. At a precocious age, Hoffmann is creating work of remarkable subtlety and sophistication. Her paintings are surreal, vibrant, quirky and colourful.
Room 2: Ashes57, Vitriol + more TBA
Across the courtyard, LAVA Collective are showcasing their stable of emerging artists. Ashes57 and Vitriol have confirmed they will be contributing work and more artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
