Suzanne Baker, Oils on Canvas
Prior to embracing her vocation as a fine artist, Suzanne Baker had a successful career in graphic design and publishing till 1994, when she left her role as Art Director at British Vogue Magazine.
She studied painting at NYSS in New York and drawing at the Royal Drawing School. She has had several solo shows in London and regularly participates in mixed exhibitions including last year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
At this show, Suzanne Baker presents a group of paintings inspired by the lively atmosphere of Brixton Village, a 1930’s covered building which is home to a huge variety of independent small businesses. Energised by the market’s synergy, its colours, the multicultural ethnicity of visitors and traders, the food and crafts that characterise this hub of activities, Suzanne has produced a body of work full of spontaneous brushstrokes that convey in oil the visually rich, buzzing community.
Gioilla Zordan, Porcelain Ceramics
Gioilla Zordan graduated in Ceramic Design from Central St.Martins in 1998, after a career in public relations. Her passion for ceramics lead her to dedicate her time to work with clay, teaching and practicing in her studio. The love for porcelain, its translucency and purity inspires her work, and the challenges that the material presents to the maker drives her determination to experiment with new techniques and exploit and evince its qualities.
She shows at fairs and twice yearly Open Studios at Redlees Artists Studios, Isleworth
On show, Gioilla present a selection of her “Spun Porcelain” pieces and wheel-thrown vessels.
