About

Arts organisations across the region have come together to deliver the project ‘Bridging the Solent', supported by Artswork and The Barbara Saunders Trust. The project commenced on the Isle of Wight in March 2014 with artist collective Ecclestone George developing their ‘Community Cart' with young people from Clatterford Tuition Centre to produce a touring artwork. The project will then work as a relay, with groups of young people working with artists to create new artworks that will be added to the cart, as a continually developing installation. On the Isle of Wight, artist Ricky Tart is currently working with young people from the IoW Youth Offending team, to create digital works that will be screened within the installation. On the 21st June, the community vehicle will travel to Portsmouth, accompanied by the artists and young people working on the project, to hand over to be exhibited at Aspex and for new groups to continue the process. In August, the work created in Portsmouth will go on to Southampton, before returning to the Isle of Wight, for a final exhibition at Quay Arts at the end of the year.
