The Brick Lane Japan Film Festival is a brand new event which will focus on Japanese cinema
About
Nowadays in the UK Japanese culture has become more and more popular, especially thanks to anime, Japanese food, and events such as “Tokyo Nights” and “Hyper Japan”. The Brick Lane Japan Film Festival is a brand new event which will focus on Japanese cinema.
Many people in the UK already know and love Studio Ghibli, and directors such as Akira Kurosawa and Yasujiro Ozu. But there are
still many other interesting Japanese films that are yet to be discovered. As part of our festival we will show a variety of films to audiences in East London, including some that only avid Japanese cinema fans will have seen. The festival is presented in association with Third Window Films, a British film company that distributes a variety of Asian films across the country.
Seven films have been chosen from their catalogue, and have been separated into four categories for the festival: “Way of Life”, “Girls BFF (Best Friend Forever)”, “Discovery”, and “Love & Tragedy”. Focusing on a variety of genres in Japanese cinema, the diversity of independent and blockbuster films will definitely provide an exciting new festival for film fans, and will shine an all new light on Japanese culture.
Tickets are £4 per film. There are 30 seats available per film. For more information please contact Keiichiro Fuse at keiichiro.fuse21@gmail.com.
