Welcome to Brenglaður Veruleiki (Distorted Reality), the second exhibition by the artistic duo Helena Reynisdóttir and Isaac Silva Looker showing at AltSpaces. In this immersive multimedia showcase we continue to follow the artists' creative and collaborative journey. Using the Icelandic title, roughly translated to English as "Distorted Reality", as a gateway to enter and engage with your perception and interpretation of your reality.

Helena's classical training and Isaac's fearless exploration converge in a dance of intertwined inspiration, creating a harmonious synthesis of colour and texture. Mirrors serve not just as canvases but as portals, windows & doors into alternate dimensions, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, and allowing the intentional dissolution of this boundary.

Isaac's distortion inspires Helena to transcend boundaries, infusing her work with spontaneity. Meanwhile, Helena's classical foundation provides Isaac a platform for experimentation, resulting in a captivating blend of styles and themes and endless source of inspiration. Through both their individual and collaborative creative processes, ideas are shared and developed together, and in parallel. This allows for the distinct styles apparent in each of the artists' work while also communicating a sense of coherence and unity of the works as a whole.

"Brenglaður Veruleiki" invites viewers to question their perceptions, exploring distortions within the artworks and interpretations and how that in turn alters both their internal and external experiences. Mirrors become metaphors for the fractured nature of understanding, reflecting artists' visions and viewers' perspectives. Through this, the images reflected in the mirrors create a complete and representational version of a world which the artists wish you to explore. This coupled with the kinetic and interactive elements of the pieces aims to create a full embodied experience, engaging all of your perceptual senses. Through this intensive modulation of the traditional gallery environment the artists are particularly focused on providing access to a diversity of peoples to participate and engage with the show.

This showcase celebrates the beauty emerging from diverse perspectives on distorted reality, a testament to love, shared experiences, and the ever-evolving nature of artistic expression. Step into this kaleidoscopic world, lose yourself in the mesmerizing dance of distorted reality, where mirrors become gateways to new realms of artistic possibility and allow yourself entrance to a new reality.
