About
Renowned painter/print-maker Brenda Hartill RE takes us on a journey through a collection of her past and present work in her next solo exhibition at Saffron Gallery. With 50 years of making art under her belt, and her work held in collections throughout the world, Brenda's work explores how she had developed and exploited the embossing characteristics of etching and collagraph.
Brenda Hartill’s main love is abstracting the essence of the landscape, in richly coloured textured works, often enhanced with silver and gold leaf. Whilst renowned internationally for her print-making skills, her most recent work is a series of watercolours on handmade paper, embossed using her print-making techniques and presses. A council member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE), Brenda regularly exhibits in London and throughout the UK, as well as internationally in Spain, Australia and New Zealand. Her work is held in the collections of many large companies. Brenda wrote “Collagraphs and Mixed Media Printmaking” which is now in its fifth print run, and has produced a 2 disc DVD set ”Collagraph, a Sculptural Approach to Printmaking”.
Those who missed Brenda's recent major solo retrospective at the Bankside Gallery in London will enjoy a second opportunity to see Brenda's older work side by side with her current collection and see how her journey has progressed. From figurative to abstract, cityscape to countryside, the exhibition will include a broad range of Brenda's interpretation of the form, structure, colour and textures of the world we live in.
