The interior’s purpose is not only a pragmatic, comfortable shelter, or aesthetically decorated and attractive im-age. It is hard to perceive an interior looking from a fixed point of view. The interior is a continuation of points of views, visible and invisible dimensions, objective and subjective readings. This thesis takes interest in the means of spatial representation in interior architecture. It investigates interior qualities like temperature, light and microscopic views of material surfaces as an important invisible dimension of a space. The inspiration for this project derives from traditional representational methods that introduce an analytical instead of realistic approach towards interior. With this project author suggest various readings of the same space in order to compensate for the lack of complexity and content in today’s interior drawings. These alternative readings is an attempt to draw more attention to the psychological dimensions of an interior instead of purely focusing on its visual aspects.
Breathe I stand simultaneously in two worlds and two systems, trying to start a dialogue between them. How can they find a relationship, a balance? I evoke existing systems of power, resignation and openness and questions cliché notions of identity. Transparency can be the perfect camouflage.Transparency unmasks the corrupt and masks real identity. If there is nothing to hide, why we fear transparency? I would like to use transparency as a term to transfer and filter large amounts of information. The voice of silence is the highest state of bonding. When something becomes transparent, it looks at all the surroundings quietly and changes the environment slowly. In order to be stronger, we have to be weaker.Breathe confronts opposing forces, and proposes a dialogue between poetry and rationality, centralisation and decentralisation and opacity and transparency.
