How might we nurture empathy and togetherness through artistic-neuroscientific interventions?
About
The artistic research project BRAINPALACE explores the topic of group synchronization and social cohesion in the context of an art exhibition. An audiovisual installation which is controlled through participants' brainwaves recorded from EEG headsets acts as the central focal point for individual and group interactions using neurofeedback methods.BRAINPALACE is a collaboration between the Munich-based installation artist Tatjana Busch, Christian Losert, Daniel Dalfovo, the Fraunhofer Institutes IAO and ITWM and STATE Studio as part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's exhibition series "Science and Art in Dialogue".
In the first phase of the 2-year project, during June 2020, we invite interested participants for public testing sessions of the setup and its features into STATE Studio, where the basement has been turned into a meditative environment equipped with a prototype of the installation including the EEG controls.
As part of the digital opening with participation of the artists and researchers, the project will be introduced and discussed.
