Talk by artist and co-founder of the Boys Don't Cry collective, about why men's mental health matters
About
Artist Marcus Nelson was close to losing his eyesight last year, a result of too many concussions from his boxing and martial arts extracurriculars. A graduate from the BA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins, he and his girlfriend, Brooke Wilson, are founders of Boys Don’t Cry, a collective of artists—all men—who talk openly about their mental health. His work has always carried a deeply personal message throughout: that men suffer and they need to talk.
As research suggests that men are still less likely than women to report their experiences of mental health problems or discuss mental health problems with a professional, in this session, Marcus will talk about why men’s mental health matters and how creativity can help to open the doors of self-expression
