A walk to discover east London's architecture and streetscapes with artist and architect Kuda Mushangi. A chance to learn more about Mushangi's painting practice that is deeply rooted in narrative, storytelling and allegory, adding new dimensions to the fabric of the city's urban landscapes.
About
Delve into architechtural principles focusing on community and repurposing, but also some art principles that emphasie the priority of architechture and interiors.
Kicking things off int the Nunnery Gallery, we will look at Mushangi's East London Art Prize shortlisted work 'The Question' (2023) and learn about his practice as and artist and architect.
Mushangi will be your guide, telling the hidden architectural stories at Bow Arts Trust, Bromley by Bow Centre, and Roman Road Market. Through walking the streets of the East End, you will aslo learn about how a design process can empower and engage a community in east London.
In this workshop you will:
-Learn about Kuda Mushangi's practice as an artist straddling both disciplines: painting and architecture.
-Be inspired by a fresh perspective on architecture and its relationship with various artistic practices.
-Explore ways to design a space that can empower and engage a community through architectural principles.
-Connect with other artists and practioners with similar areas of interest.
This walk is open to anyone to attend, but will particulalry resonate with artists who have a profound interest in architecture. No architectural background is required - come along to find out!
