About
Pragovka Gallery invites you to Kaija Hinkula's exhibition BOULDER STAR (26 May - 29 June 2023, Pragovka Gallery). The opening will take place on Thursday, 25 May at 6 pm.
Kaija Hinkula's artistic work takes place in the field of expanded painting, where two-dimensional paintings expand into sculptural and spatial experience. New installation Boulder Star plays with expanded materiality and site specific possibiitilies in painterly scenes featuring installation compiling different materials as video, fabric and readymade.
"The works exhibited, in the artist’s own words, ‘modelling manuals for a new universe’. The artist has also described her previous artistic vision by stating that ‘my works are centered around displacing a place, an observation or a material from its context and transforming it into a new shape, space and action. The works moves somewhere between painting and sculpture, which could be described by using the expression fantastic minimalism."
