Julia Trickey is an award winning botanical artist and tutor who has exhibited internationally. She is particularly drawn to specimens that are less than perfect, especially leaves. On this course she shows you how to produce accurate plant portraits using graphite, tonal drawing and pen with watercolour washes.
The first day will concentrate on accurate observational drawing skills from basic line drawings of leaf structures; tonal drawings of fruit and vegetables to explore depicting 3d organic shapes and using white and black pencils on grey paper - to encourage examination of the two extremes of the tonal range.
The second day there will be more observational drawing of seasonal plants using pen and ink techniques. There is then the option to move on to introduce colour using pen and wash techniques.
