Borderlands investigates the human relationship to the land. Through sculpture, sound, moving images and photography, we start to think about our connections to the landscapes and terrains around us.
About
Saturday the 19th of April:
13:00 - Identity Written into the Border in Conversation with Helen Acklam and Emma Drabble
15:00 - Poetry Readings with Nick Moore, Will Hilless, Matilda Street
Borderlands investigates the human relationship to the land. Through sculpture, sound, moving images and photography, we start to think about our connections to the landscapes and terrains around us. Taking inspiration from journeys across and the inhabitance of lands, the sediment in which we build upon, bodies and memories in time, water systems, cave systems, digital and mechanical systems, there's an acknowledgement of the space in which we take up and exist within. Borderlands reject hierarchies between nature and humans and highlight the interwoven ecology which will exist before and beyond our singular lifetime.
Alongside the exhibition, the collective Borderlands library celebrates the interdisciplinary play between writing and art. From poetry to prose, engagement in research and streams of consciousness, to visual language; the library is a space to pause for a moment.
