BOOKSTORE SPACE continues the Pro-Gression program in 2016. The program has been realized with the support of the Leuwenstein Foundation and was established to give a new face to the existing BOOKSTORE gallery and to offer opportunities to artists at the beginning of their careers.

About

"The starting point for my sculptures was to try to find the same quickness and freedom of working in sculpting as when drawing. A drawing can be set up and finished in a matter of minutes and a new blank piece of paper can always be picked up. Sculpture often takes more planning, drawing out the dimensions and thinking about technical possibilities and material. For these works I discarded the hierarchy of materials and decided to use waste materials which are available everywhere, often for free. The sculptures are produced quickly, often in less then a day and can practically be produced anywhere and anytime. The result is a continuously expanding group of sculptures whose main existential justification is that they have been made.

In this exhibition I will show the sculptures together with a number of new drawings. The drawings are in contrast with the impulsive nature of the sculptures, they are carefully planned out, based on sketches made beforehand, which are in turn based on images with a geometrical nature.”
