Join Kat Williams Illustration at Harewood House for this magical bookbinding and comic writing workshop!

About

Learn to make a Turkish Map Fold book, sometimes called ’shepherd’s purse’ or ‘explosion page’, as each sheet dramatically unfurls as you turn the pages.

We’ll be looking at folklore and fairytales, and filling the pages with our own stories. Maybe you’ll write a comic about monsters and mythical creatures, or design a treasure map for your own fantasy world.

Choose from a variety of decorative paper and colourful threads to stitch together a beautiful hardback book using traditional Japanese bookbinding techniques. There will be step-by-step guidance for beginners, however we’d love to see you get creative and come up with your own designs too!

This workshop is best enjoyed by children aged 7 and over.

Any accompanying adults must have a valid membership card or day ticket to Harewood.
