Creative health and wellbeing TROVYA- discover for libraries.

About

Arts Well is a social enterprise based in Penryn, we champion the role of the arts and creativity in promoting health and wellbeing, working with organisations, large and small, to develop projects and programmes that respond to identified needs.

As part of a funded project post pandemic, we launched our campaign - Creativity it’s good for you! Our beautiful, printed leaflets with links to our directory of creative offers in Cornwall, information, and bitesize activities to try at home, were distributed to many organisations, GP surgeries, Citizens Advice and to all 28 libraries in Cornwall, we were delighted to see so many included in library displays along with books on creativity!

The next phase of our work included bringing the campaign to life with our community events, Trovya – discover (in Cornish) Discovering the value of creativity on health and wellbeing.

Following some larger events we designed a smaller library version of our Trovya, enabling us to meet local people from the community in the familiar location of their local library. Bringing some simple creative activities that could be dipped into, we focused on a family friendly workshop to reimagine the cover of a favourite book through collage. We brought along all our information, leaflets, and directory of creative offers for that area, plus creative prompts to take home and any help or signposting we could offer to people on the day.

We visited Redruth, Bodmin, Saltash, Launceston, Penzance and Perranporth libraries as well as Kresen Kernow.

We believe it is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, enabling everyone to experience a creative activity for themselves whilst learning more about the benefits of why we should all be getting creative! and the studies and research behind it.

This exhibition is a showcase of original and printed book covers created by participants at our workshops.
