Bold. is a group show, curated by Mark Goldby containing works by a diverse group of artists who define themselves as gay, bisexual, queer or MSM; a group of people who just 50 years ago would have been considered mentally ill or criminal for their sexual identity.
About
The word ‘Bold’ is an old Polari term and a gay slang term meaning ‘daring’. The works are just that; daring glimpses into the private worlds of people preoccupied by the question of identity and self-expression.
The works range across a variety of mediums including photography, sculpture and film, and forms the starting point for Goldby’s residency in the Museum of Croydon where he will be responding to queer artefacts from the archive.
