Lauderdale House is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by London artist Cos Ahmet. This solo exhibition was awarded to Cos as the winner of âPride in The House 2009'. He shows a diverse range of work featuring a new series of images that merge woven tapestry with etchings, paintings and collage pieces, expressing various narratives that delve into themes of sexuality and identity.
The title âBodylogues' refers to and defines the artist's work; a series of body dialogues. Hidden, layered, ethereal, oblique and fragmented, these new works take their cue from Cos Ahmet's familiar collection of abstracted body imagery, that appear in his work in several guises, presenting new mannerisms, inserting themselves into new circumstances, flirting with prior ones, creating altered dialogues. The male form, with the âself' at the core of his work, has never been straightforward, sometimes bearing no immediate link to the figure. The âpersonal' operates as its manifesto, speaking of its multi-factorial experience.
