Sangeeta Bhagawati is a London based Indian printmaker. She uses linoprinting, chiné-colle and etching techniques to make her prints. Her exhibition, "Body Tales/ Body Tells", will show her latest original prints.
Each print is about the female body – bodies that tell tales within the printed matrix. Her subjects are predominantly South Asian women and she tends to channel the feelings of rebellion, strength and communion if the subject of her print involves women and body.
This has generated from her personal experience as a South Asian female growing up in India. Her cultural roots in India have shaped her practice - allowing her to explore, and belong to, her roots.
