(Please book via EventBrite Link) This is a reflective 2 hour workshop where your body is outlined to then fill in with mixed media materials. All materials are supplied!

About

What is Body Mapping? ‘Body Mapping’ is the tracing around a person's body to create a life-sized outline, which is then filled in using mixed media processes such as collage, text, painting, colouring etc. This process creates an image that allows its maker to represent multiple aspects of their physical and emotional experience.

During this relaxed 2 hour ‘Body Mapping’ workshop, participants are encouraged to consider how their history, community and emotional state affect their physical experience. Through the use of colour, pattern, text, and symbols, each participant can depict their inner worlds onto their body map to ‘see’ / ‘understand’ themselves + others in the workshop more clearly. (All materials are supplied!)

This workshop offers a safe place to explore your identity in a mindful way, there will be a halfway break and participants are invited to get food/drink from the bar throughout the workshop. Each participant can make their body map as impersonal or as personal as they feel suited too.

The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the important history of Body Mapping Workshops (the 2002 Long Life Project) where I will be showing examples of body maps to help inspire you to get started. My assistant Stella McGarvey and I will then guide the workshop using prompts, and there will be points to share with with one another what you have been working on (if you feel comfortable to)

At the end, each person will be invited to take their body map home with them!
