About
'body // catharsis' is a community art exhibition at Embassy Gallery in Edinburgh, open 11am to 9:00pm on 29th June.
The show brings together and celebrates artists who are approaching art from a diversity of routes and backgrounds. Many of our artists either did not go to art school, are exploring outside of their primary practice, or have faced significant barriers to participating in art.
Our exhibition will feature pieces representing over 10 different art practices, from painting and pottery, to film and audiovisual design, all exploring our twin themes of ‘body’ and ‘catharsis’.
The opening night celebration (6:30pm to 9:00pm) will feature live music from local buzzworthy hazy rock band spinney, as well as performance art and free drinks.
The opening night will be a fantastic opportunity to meet other artists and lovers of art in Edinburgh who care about grassroots art without exclusion. We warmly invite anyone who is interested in art to join, mingle, get inspired, make friends, and enjoy.
