Press release:

Blueprints Museum

MOCA London

15 – 18 March 2023

Opening event:

Wednesday 15 March

6 – 8 pm

MOCA London is pleased to present Blueprints Museum an interactive, devised production at MOCA London from 15th - 18th March, playing for a limited run, with opening night on 15th March.

Free pre-sale tickets are available from Tuesday 14th February for the narrative time slots. There is also the opportunity to see the exhibition without a ticket between 4 – 5.45 pm Wednesday to Saturday.

Directed by Grace O’Keefe (director of the sold-out show, Bad Teacher), Lobster Frock’s brand new, fictional museum adventure is based on their genre-defying digital theatre piece with the same name. Drawing on the extraordinary real-life experiences of South London women, it is a powerful story of hope, courage, and humanity – and a heartfelt tribute to mothers.

In the pristine walls of a gallery, a local woman’s story unfolds. As an ageing woman teeters on the edge of loneliness, the museum backdrop holds the key to her salvation.

Explore the seasons of womanhood from birth to elder, uncovering memories to discover her past.

Tackling themes on ageing, isolation and loneliness, Blueprints Museum has been created in collaboration with Lewisham and Southwark communities aged 65+ from The Albany and Age UK. The designers are Emma Lynch and Natalie Johnson, (including puppets, props and artwork) and video pieces are edited by Matthew Kaltenborn (work featured on ITV and Channel 5). Blueprints is devised and performed by Kirsty Blewett with further cast to be announced.

Suitable for ages 12+

Supported by using public funding by Arts Council England, and is in partnership with Age UK Lewisham-Southwark and Meet Me at the Albany.

About Lobster Frock

Lobster Frock are a surrealist, feminist theatre company led by Rose-Bruford trained theatre-maker and performer, Kirsty Blewett. They specialise in improvisation and play. Currently, they are developing an Arts Council England funded digital show, Blueprints into a live production with local South London communities. They have been supported by Theatre Deli, The Kilden Theatre (Norway) and ARC Stockton. They were also resident artists at Stanley Arts (previously known as Stanley Halls) in Croydon. Their debut show, The Pursuit of Success is due to tour fringe festivals later in 2023.

Their shows are always devised, new pieces that celebrate unsung heroines through bold sound design and visual aesthetic.

“Our characters are the heart of our worlds, giving voice and presence to diverse women who need to be known and understood. Audiences need to see the world from a female viewpoint to provoke change and we give it to them.”
