Blue Eyed Boys is a series of monumental portraits depicting an alternative beauty of bearded men from the 'Bear' world that draws inspiration from Renaissance portraiture and references Holbein.
NB : The concept of the âBear' community originated in San Francisco in the 1980's. The founders were men who felt that the dominant gay culture was unwelcoming because they did not fit the existing stereotype lean, muscular, young and clean-cut. This idea was then exported across the Atlantic in the 1990's and is now a world-wide phenomenon.
