About

The final instalment in Jamaica Street Artists year long illustration showcase features Blue, completing the circle. In contrast to the warm summer climate St George's Crypt Bar will be providing a cool haven, presenting a fresh take on illustration. The exhibition highlights the dynamic associative power of colour, engaging the audience in making its own connections. The colour Blue has a universal appeal, used to depict the sea around us and the sky above us. ING Discerning Eye prize winner Rose Sanderson takes a humorous approach, creating water based characters Sinker and Floater. On a similar theme children's illustrator Serena Curmi produces a whimsical take on sea creatures, including the aptly named Blue Whale. In contrast the traditionally dark world inhabited by Mr Mead's surreal anthropomorphic bio-mechanical animals is given a fresh facelift as he swaps his bottomless black backgrounds for blue.
