The Vitra Campus has a new exhibition space: a black box was set up in one of the houses at the southern entrance, where the collection of international toy robots of the Vitra Chairman Emeritus Rolf Fehlbaum can be seen.
About
The Black Box can only be visited by public guided tours.
The presentation includes robots and astronauts from the years 1937 to 1968. Many of them talk about the technological optimism of the time, as robots and space travel were still largely fiction. For selected specimens, the original packages can be seen, which are no less spectacular than the objects themselves. A part of the robots can be seen on screens in motion, others are displayed on turntables. The design puts the visitor in a minimalistic, dark dream world. The exhibition was created in collaboration with Rolf Fehlbaum's collector Fifo Stricker. Dieter Thiel is the architect of the Black Box, the scenography was developed with the designer Ronan Bouroullec.
The guided tours will take place on the following days at 2 pm: 02.04, 16.04, 30.04, 14.05, 18.06, 16.07, 20.08, 17.09.2017
