This weekend darkroom photography workshop with photographer Keith Moss will introduce you to shooting with black & white film and then developing the film to create beautiful hand-printed photographs.

About

Working with Ilford black and white film, you’ll learn how to assess the correct exposure using a handheld light meter in order to acheive consistency in exposure for each shot. You’ll then spend some time exploring the Hannah Starkey exhibition and discussing her approach and techniques before taking photographs around the gallery and its exterior, and in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden.

Back in the studio and darkroom, you will learn about the chemicals used in black and white development and how to mix and use them to process your own film. During your time in the darkroom, you will gain a greater understanding of what can be achieved using different chemistry timings and temperature. Keith will guide you in the production of a contact sheet, which you will then use to create a series of beautiful prints from your negatives to take home and display.

This workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate level darkroom photographers.
