Artist's first solo show in London

About

Excited at being offered the opportunity of exhibiting at Freud in central London, twenty-four year old photographer and Oxford graduate Kate Busby has produced a unique body of work for the show, previously unseen. Guests are invited to read the linear sequence of photo panels. They offer a visual interpretation of how a Venus-like goddess came to be, culminating in a centre-piece strongly inspired by Botticelli's ubiquitous painting. The exhibition also marks Busby's first public acknowledgement of her own adoption. As well as being an exploration of the love story that leads to birth, her photographs are driven by a desire to examine her own heritage, equally important as her adopted culture. The preview will be a charity fundraiser for the St Francis Children's Society in Milton Keynes, an adoption agency local to the artist and has in the last sixty years found families for over 2,000 children.
