Celebrating Nature
About
This exhibition is a celebration of all things botanical, shown through images of plant portraits, in various mediums, that aim to reflect the variety and wonder of our natural world.
This celebration draws attention to the many ways nature evokes our senses – visually, through the beauty of flowers and leaves. Through the spectacular colours that can be seen every day in our plants that we pass in our gardens or see about us as we move around our day in the world, in the sky or even our humble pot plants.
We celebrate the wonder of nature’s structures and patterns, the startling construction of a pineapple or the subtle but impressive network of veins in a leaf.
Overall, in this exhibition we aim to show the breadth and awe of the natural world through the ancient art of portraying plants. This began (and continues today) for medicinal and scientific purposes but also to showcase the beauty that nature brings to our lives. Pictures allow us to study these wonders and share them, so is a way of bringing nature more to our attention and into our homes.
The Granary Art Gallery is open daily 11am – 4pm and is free to enter.
