'Bird, Tree, Bell, Fish, Ring' combines a fascinating selection of items from The Hunterian collections which represent the symbols on the Glasgow coat of arms.
About
Bird, Tree, Bell, Fish, Ring is co-curated by University of Glasgow students and combines a fascinating selection of items from The Hunterian collections which represent the symbols on the Glasgow coat of arms.
These include a Canadian First Nations wooden bird-shaped rattle, Tile Tree by Surrealist painter Samuel Haile, an Edo brass bell from Nigeria, A Trout Rising by Glasgow Boy Joseph Crawhall and a memorial ring containing a lock of James Watt’s hair.
This small display is part of the Glasgow 850 programme which marks Glasgow’s 850th anniversary with a year-long programme of events that reflect on how the city has transformed.
The Hunterian Art Gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00am and 5.00pm. Free entry.
