A group exhibition celebrating Ingleby Gallery's ongoing public art and print publishing project, active since 2008. Participants include Charles Avery, Martin Boyce, Susan Hiller and Peter Doig.

About

Over the past six and a half years, Ingleby Gallery’s public art project Billboard for Edinburgh has invited 26 artists to make a large-scale work for Edinburgh’s city centre. The Billboard for Edinburgh project was initiated in 2008, when the Gallery moved to its new premises on Calton Road and transformed a defunct billboard on the end wall of the building. Since then, every three months a new billboard installation has been posted. The list of contributors now includes 10 Turner Prize nominees and winners and artists with world renowned reputations alongside emerging talents. Leading Scottish artists who have taken part include Martin Boyce,
Charles Avery and Peter Doig.

Ingleby Gallery’s forthcoming exhibition will see five full-size billboards from the project recreated in the Gallery’s first floor exhibition space, allowing visitors to see these giant posters up close. Alongside the billboards, all 26 original prints from the project to date will also be displayed. These include screenprints, lithographs, etchings and archival pigment prints. The exhibition will recreate memorable installations by John Stezaker, Susan Hiller, Ruth Ewan, Peter Doig and Marine Hugonnier. In addition to the large-scale posters in the interior space, Ingleby Gallery will also present a new installation by
Richard Long on the outside billboard.

Participants to date: Mark Wallinger, Rachel Whiteread, Bob & Roberta Smith, Cerith Wyn Evans, Tacita Dean, Ceal Floyer, Jonathan Monk, Adam McEwen, Kenny Hunter, Antony Gormley, Bethan Huws, Ugo Rondinone, Cornelia Parker,
Ryan Gander, Ruth Ewan, Anya Gallaccio, Craig Coulthard, Susan Hiller, John Stezaker, Marine Hugonnier, Peter Doig, David Austen, Jamie Shovlin, Martin Boyce, Charles Avery and Richard Long.
