Biff strips are absurd, hilarious, satirical cartoon-commentaries on folkies generally, even featuring the legendary Cecil Sharp himself. This retrospective will feature around 30 strips from the pages of fRoots magazine.
About
Chris Garratt and Mick Kidd have been locked in a long-distance comedy relationship since childhood.
Their cartoon strip Biff has entertained readers of International Times, City Limits,The Guardian , Prospect, BBC History and, since 1999, fRoots magazine. As The Ploughboys(named after their local Leicestershire pub, rather than faux rusticity) they recorded a tape with Peter Kennedy at CSH, alas long lost. Mick ran Swansea Folk Club in the mid 60s. and has recently published his autobiography, From Earache to Eternity. Chris still plays tea chest bass with his current band, The Barnacles.
