About
Our ambition for Beyond the Obvious 2 was to build effective relationships and a shared vision that focused a critical eye on the relationship between artists and the cultural and educational environment in the region.
The publication highlights lived experience in the region through art practice and writing. The work addresses specific challenges and their connection to cultural and educational provision.Sheffield Hallam University will be evaluating this “Sector Snapshot” as part of their commitment to addressing the challenges of decolonising the University curriculum and supporting greater diversity in the regions’ cultural life.
Beautifully designed by Azizah Raghib from Sheffield Hallam University and with an intro by Yuen Fong Ling (SHU) and an outro by Sunshine Wong (Corridor8, Bloc Projects), the publication, we will be launched at 4pm on the 28th of March at the Old Post Hall in Sheffield Hallam University where you can meet and hear from the contributors.

*global majority - Identity is complex and nuanced and defined in a myriad of constantly evolving ways. Acronyms such as 'BAME', Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, are not only clumsy and blunt, but almost universally reviled by those so described. By Global Majority we are refering to people who are Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and or have been racialised as 'ethnic minorities'.
