“To experience a live action is to live a unique moment. Mastering the body and mind in time with a profound sense of detail, the performance artist knows how to show presence. The performance artist seizes the moment in movements and in stillness, inventing sensible images of beauty and meaning.”
- Jonas Stampe
This gathering is of artists of a new working generation making performances.
From a number of countries works made live in the moment of being and doing.
With their body as site and then beyond the body in space and time.
Excavations and imaginations.
Their range of practice and approach is individual and wide and different, but certain research coincides: investigations includes race and social injustice, sexual politics and power, work and labour, harmony of material and nature and soundtracks and voices.
They come together here with each bringing their own singular approach.
Presence is their currency, the time is now.
Making autonomous works but in juxtaposition to others also at work.
Their materials and images their own with overlay relational.
Outcomes in tandem but perhaps compounded and contradicted, shared or against.
Cooperation is generous and in risk and not scripted.
