The exhibition explores the way in which fragile perception shapes our understanding of the world around us.
About
The exhibition ‘Between Body and Space. Intangible landscapes, fragility and variability of perception' presents the complex relationship between the human body and the surrounding space, both physical and conceptual. The exhibition explores the way in which fragile and changeable perception shapes our understanding of the world around us, revealing the intimate relationship between body, space and immaterial landscapes. It also explores feelings of loneliness and alienation and the need for contact and interaction. The works of two interdisciplinary artists Dominika Jeżewska and Judith Le Roux present different perspectives on this issue, combining elements of reality, imagination, solitude and intimacy with conceptual and virtual elements.
The exhibition features two series by Dominika Jeżewska, ‘Anatomy of Perception’ (created with Israa al Balushi), in which the artist explores the fragility of this world through augmented reality with virtual motifs, and ‘please enter.’ which is a set of poetic instructions created to explore liminal space through the senses. Dominika's work is juxtaposed with Judith Le Roux's projects ‘Loneliness of Bodies’, which explores the theme of our emotions, the superficiality of our relationships with others, and the photographic essay ‘Tango in Blue’, in which she presents dance as a form of therapy for loneliness.
The exhibition is a dialogue between two female artists from different countries who address the theme of the body in space through their works. Although they approach these issues from diverse perspectives, they explore comparable emotions using graphic and 3D elements. The themes they discuss are universal and can apply to us all.
The opening of the exhibition ‘Between Body and Space. Intangible landscapes, fragility and variability of perception' is the inaugural event of the Melete Gallery, a virtual art gallery, which is a project of the Foundation for the Promotion of Art and Artistic Collaboration “Art Planes”. The exhibition will be presented in a 3D virtual space on the Kunstmatrix platform. Entry to the exhibition is free from anywhere and at any time. The exhibition will be accompanied by curatorial tours and online events with the artists open to dialogue with the public.
