Better Late is the first exhibition from Imprint Collective – Annie Burrows, Rachael Causer, Georgina Hall and Marigold Plunkett. They studied Printmaking together at Camberwell College of Art, graduating in 2020.

About

Four artists with diverse practices exploring a range of subject matter and ideas, yet whose works share sensibilities situated within the common terrain of print. Embodied within all their practices is an exchange - a back and forth between the act of making, the drawn line, its materiality and its relationship to a moment in time.

Annie Burrows creates work that uses both drawing and print, a process of mark-making and manipulating the surface. Her subtle drawings magnify familiar textures and absorb us in a disquieting way.

Rachael Causer’s sculpture focuses on traces relating to touch, repeated activity and labour embodied within everyday objects and environments around us. She examines the relationship between the way human and non-human activities intertwine, her works are a  subtle nod to the tenuous line we tread between co-existing and colliding with other fragile ecologies.

Georgina Hall’s etched prints and collages navigate the marked and scratched line, building layers like stratum, synthesising known objects (seaweed, plastics or fabric) with ghostly layers, which seek to question our relationship to the natural world.

Marigold Plunkett works mainly in printmaking and oil paint, her practice centres on the expressive potential of the portrait through mark-making. The portraits she produces are primarily of herself, or her close family. These close subjects give her the freedom to explore the role of the female gaze uninhibited.
