An Installation of found objects and paintings by Bethann Parker
About
Cabin Contemporary is pleased to present Bethann Parker, Blood Trail. Parker is an intuitive hunter driving desire into the mystical back side of language. The installation pairs suggestive objects found in rural communities with her consequent paintings of glitchy pastoral motifs reminding of our faults and burdens overcome. In this mode, she simultaneously advances the process and the product and so becomes both the horse and the fox; the spiritual tool of the predator and the prey's promise of corporeal knowledge. With Blood Trail, Bethann Parker lifts the skin to offer both interior and exterior reflection and so suggests the trail to wisdom is at once way and goal.
Bethann Parker (b. 1984 in Montgomeryville, Pa) Parker received a BFA and Certificate of Fine Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and a Certificate from the Barnes Foundation. She was the recipient of The Kittredge Fund, The Fred and Naomi Hazel Art Scholarship, The Richard Von. Hess Travel Scholarship and twice awarded Venture Fund Grant for large project proposals. Her work has been featured in the New York Times and the Voice of America. Parker lives and works in Saylorsburg, PA.
