“Berlin Kadraji” presents 30 images of 13 photographers from Istanbul and Berlin.
About
“Berlin Kadraji” presents 30 images of 13 photographers from Istanbul and Berlin. The exhibition is the result of a Tandem project under the umbrella of the twin city partnership between Istanbul/ Kadıköy und Berlin/ Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. “Kadraji” is a reference to Cadrage, the conscious framing and composition of a photograph. The joint process to explore the city with a photographic point-of-view, resulted in individual images that show a rich diversity. Ideas for different themes from the Istanbul group were leading to choices of places and routes. In small mixed groups, the photographers then went on urban field trips and subsequently discussed their creative outcome in the large group.
The exhibition “Berlin Kadraji” was first presented at Barış Manço Cultural Center in Istanbul/ Kadıköy, and it is the forth photographic exchange project between the twin municipal districts Kadıköy und Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
The art directors of the project are Klaus W. Eisenlohr (Photozentrum der VHS Friedrichhain-Kreuzberg) and Levent Karaoğlu (Fotoatelier Nazim Hikmet Kulturzentrum Kadıköy).
The project has been made possible by the twin city association Kadıköy e.V., which actively engages in the twin city partnership of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in Berlin and Kadıköy in Istanbul for many years. At the same time, the exhibition celebrates this year's 30th aniversairy of the twin city partnership of Berlin and Istanbul.
For the opening reception, young singers from the twin city project will be accompanied by Robert Matt on the piano.
