Roulette presents the debut US performance of French electroacoustic composer Bérangère Maximin.
About
French electroacoustic composer Bérangère Maximin engages the listener in considerations of space and textures, creating hypnotic, sultry pieces with immediate impact. One of the most exciting figures in contemporary French composition, Maximin has studied under musique concrète composer Denis Dufour and has appeared with Rhys Chatham and Christian Fennesz.
Since the release of her debut album, Tant Que Les Heures Passent, on John Zorn’s Tzadik label, Maximin’s work has developed towards live practice, utilizing laptops and midi controllers to develop what she calls her “digital chimeras.” This work led her to compose her second album, No One Is An Island (Sub Rosa, 2012), which commanded the respect of established artists, including avant-garde composer and producer Craig Leon, and solidified her position at the forefront of French electroacoustic music. Dangerous Orbits, released in May 2015, is her first album for Crammed Discs' Made To Measure series.
The program will last 40 minutes without intermission.
