About

The greatest modern verse translator of Beowulf, Seamus Heaney (above), reads from his acclaimed 1999 version and discusses the timeless power of the tale with Benjamin Bagby, Michael Morpurgo and historian and presenter Michael Wood. This event is part of a four-day celebration of the Anglo-Saxon epic Beowulf in performance, readings, discussion, family events and workshops, together with a new display of the world's only surviving manuscript, now 1000 years old and one of the greatest treasures of the British Library.
