About
During Locarno Film Festival, IMPORT EXPORT presents “BelVedere”, an international video art project curated by Fabio Carnaghi.
In Locarno “BelVedere” combines two sections.
A first part provides for a projection of all works included in two past editions by an innovative curatorial interpretation with videos of Yoav Admoni, Alejandro Almanza Pereda, Miguel Arzabe, Chameckilerner, Debora Hirsch, Sasha Litvintseva, Zhenchen Liu, Oliver Michaels, Ursula Palla, Johanna Reich, Andrew Norman Wilson.
A second part consists of four solo screenings, each of which respectively dedicated to Jonathas De Andrade, Shana Moulton, Nicolas Provost, Devis Venturelli. The leitmotif is the boundary between performance and filmic medium that emerges in every research through peculiar approaches.
Deeply rooted in cultural anthropology, Jonathas De Andrade’s practice uses the video to document a performative action, establishing a relationship with politics, society and economy. In Shana Moulton’s work, performance is the praxis in tracing intersections of medial directrixes including video as final result. Nicolas Provost works on technical performativity through filmic medium, eclectic and multifaceted. Devis Venturelli’s research explores the connections between rigid architectural planning and ephemeral performance so much that the video language becomes utopian mirage.
«BelVedere 2» is included in IMPORT EXPORT programme, a project supported by «Viavai+», initiative promoted by Cantons Ticino e Vallese, Regione Lombardia with Pro Helvetia, Swiss Foundation for Culture. IMPORT EXPORT is a platform to promote experimental art projects in an international network between three independent spaces, MARS (Italy), larada (Switzerland), Fuzao (Italy-China).
