About
This illustrates transitions, developments, and connections rather than a strictly isolated view of individual epochs. Thus within a house an insight into the Austrian art history from the Middle Ages to the middle of the 20th century in the international context is offered.
For the masterpieces of Gustav Klimt, a separate room concept was developed that presents the painting kiss in a new light.
In the ground floor of the Upper Belvedere , the art of classical modernism and the inter-war period can be seen in a comprehensive form, the baroque collection can be experienced in the piano nobile.
The Belvedere houses the most important collection of Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day.
