Meet current Spike Island Fellows Gwenllian Davenport and Izzy Mooney as they discuss their practices, the shared connections between their work, and their experiences so far in Spike Island studios.
About
Gwenllian Davenport’s practice navigates the slipperiness of language and her personal relationship with her mother tongue. She graduated from Bath School of Art and Design with a BA Fine Art in 2019 and has exhibited at Bargehouse in London, Centerspace in Bristol and the Sion Hill gallery in Bath. Davenport is currently one of the recipients of the Spike Island Graduate Fellowship.
Izzy Mooney graduated in BA Fine Art at University of the West of England (2019) and is currently practicing as an artist on the Dreamtime Fellowship at Spike Island, initiated with funding and support from artist Luke Jerram. Working across film, sculpture, painting and print, her work explores the notion of the archive as a transitional space, including how objects and images operate when separated from their physical origins.
