Georgia Hughes
Georgia Hughes’ interests lie in costume, cloth making and textile industries, particularly the social, political and economic aspects of craft-based communities. She has a BA in Textiles (graduating in 2012) and specialises in woven fabric.
Her interests in specific cultural and heritage textiles took her work and research across India. She has further explored these interests through a residency in Panjim, Goa after graduating with an MA in Visual Arts at West Dean College (2016). Aspirations of her work aim to bridge between contemporary and traditional skills, safeguarding specific cultural, social and ethical issues within craft-based communities. Her work often takes the form of theatrical stage set design or 'tapestry cartoons'.
