About
There are so many dramas in our world, currently. Our lives are constantly dramatised: our beings, our acting; and the way our lives are arranged in the social context and under the social norms of which we are expected to perform in accordance with.
We might all be guilty of craving for a little bit of drama to keep us focused on the task at hand. For example, the dramatic performance we embed in our communication with each other, weather out of a compulsion we feel as part of the ‘social code’, or to better illustrate, to ‘exemplify’ the core message we try to get across.
Art is another way to exemplify, in Goodman’s words, as a ‘way of world-making’. Drawing a vision of the world we desire for while inwardly, to explore our subjective experience: it is vital to embrace the authenticity of the self so that we can bring about the changes we want.
The featured artists attempted to respond the dramaturgy of actions in our daily activities by going beyond the appearance – to explore what does the ‘subject’ feel beneath the mask.
