The Institute of Contemporary Arts in collaboration with Beck's has commissioned ten artists to create audio visual installations for the Beck's Fusions 'Pod' in Trafalgar Square. This event is part of the Beck's Fusions season, a series of events in which leading musicians and artists from the UK and beyond have been challanged to create new works of art and performance.
Completely open and free to the public, the Pod measures 26m x 10m and will be unveiled on 6 September in Trafalgar Square. The programme, curated by Forma, will repeat throughout the day and includes installations by artists ranging from the Turner Prize shortlisted Jane and Louise Wilson to Beck's Futures Student Film and Video winner Douglas Fishbone, as well as emerging talents such as digital artist Lia and internet-based Oliver Laric.
Each artist has created an installation in response to a rare or unheard of version of a song by a leading band or vocalist. These exclusive 'fusions' span a wide range of disciplines from animation, media art to video sampling, and the programme forms an immersive experience presented in a multi-screen 360º environment. From mid-September the Pod and the new commissions will travel to Dublin, Manchester and Glasgow.
